Backpacking Peru

When I found its way to Peru, we struggled to imagine the way I would ever fit it all in. Peru is a nation with amazing variety, from rich lowland jungles to arid coastal deserts into large mountain ranges for the Andes. Ten weeks later, when I crossed the border into Ecuador, though, we thought I'd made a reduction.

I’ve been a perpetual traveler for over two years, but i understand that not everyone has the deluxe to go because slowly when I do. We typed this three-week itinerary because I know that plenty backpackers want to notice it all in a tremendously minimal timeframe, and I also fell deeply in love with these destinations so it’s tough in my situation to recommend cutting some of all of them!

But warning: this a whistle-stop, just take no prisoners itinerary that only the many lively of tourists should take on. It will leave very little area for missed buses, hangovers, impromptu sidetrips, stumbled-upon celebrations, naps, or afternoons daydreamed away from the window of a café.

If it is whatsoever feasible, I suggest carrying this out same path over the course of monthly (or higher!), incorporating an additional time every single destination. Do a biking tour of Lima, stay another evening in Huacachina and simply take a winery trip, and add every day to Arequipa so you don’t must select from adventure activities. Perform some four-day in the place of three-day Adventure Trek to Machu Picchu, and add a-day in Cusco after to recoup. Viva Peru!

• Times 1-2: Lima

Rest after your red-eye trip lands in Lima and also you’ve checked into one of the numerous hostels ringing Kennedy Park in Miraflores. Awaken for lunch at famed sandwich shop La Lucha before heading off to market tour and Pisco Sour making lesson – there’s no better introduction to Peru. Spend evening wandering around Barranco (don’t skip the MATE gallery – bring your student ID for those who have one!), and treat yourself to dinner in one of its hip eateries.

1 day 2, wake up early to watch the surfers at Playa Waikiki and stroll through prefer Park. In the afternoon, do a Do It Yourself hiking tour all over colonial downtown area (Lonely earth Peru has actually a fantastic one mapped on), and stay for night water fountain show at Parque de los angeles Reserva.

• Times 3-4: The Southern Coast

Wake-up in the beginning Day 3 to capture a 3.5 hour bus to in Paracas. Look into the Kokopelli Hostel and spend the mid-day ATV riding across the Paracas nationwide Reserve, after that subscribe to an earlier morning watercraft trip of of this Ballestas Islands a day later. After marveling at the penguins, water lions and pelicans, get another bus for quick 60 minutes trip to Huacachina, a literal oasis within the desert. Look at Banana’s Adventures Hostel and lounge because of the pool until the evening sandboarding and dunebuggying trip begins.

On Day 5, continue along the coastline another a couple of hours to Nazca, and splurge on a trip over the famous Nazca outlines. At night, catch the nightly lecture at the Nazca Lines Hotel before hopping on an overnight coach to Arequipa. As you’re preserving on per night of accommodation, splurge on a high-end coach organization like Cruz del Sur or Ormeno — if you book Cruz del Sur in advance on the web, you are able to get major sales!
