The Peruvian authorities have established circumstances of emergency in a city that was struck by an avalanche of mud and rocks on Monday.
A torrent of dirt and liquid sent car-sized boulders crashing through town of Chosica, 47 km (29 miles) from money Lima.
About seven people were killed and 65 houses destroyed.
The country's primary east-west highway had been obstructed and residents are seeking gear to get rid of debris.
The boulders had been loosened by couple of hours of hefty rain on Monday.
Floodwaters smashed through stone walls and carried vehicles, animals and furniture through Chosica's roads.
Hawaii of disaster was called for 60 days to offer capabilities into local authorities to re-establish power and water products, and initiate a clean-up operation.
Residents in city have expected the authorities for diggers and heavy gear.
